GIS Enabled Land Bank gaining popularity

India Industrial Land Bank (IILB), a GIS-based portal, has seen a 30% increase in page views each month since April 2021

It has received 55000 page views in June compared to 44136 page views in May 2021 and 30153 page views in April 2021.
Key update:
- IILB website sees 30% rise in page views each month since April 2021
- The system has been integrated with industry-based GIS systems of 17 states
- This will have details on the portal updated on a real-time basis
- The system will achieve pan-India integration by December 2021.
- Regarding country-wise visitors, after India, US have the maximum number of visitors followed by Australia, the United Kingdom, Singapore, UAE, Germany, and Indonesia.
What is GIS?
- A system that creates, manages, analyzes, and maps all types of data.
- It uses data that is attached to a unique location.
- GIS connects data to a map, integrating location data (where things are) with all types of descriptive information (what things are like there).
- Benefits: improved communication and efficiency as well as better management and decision making.
India Industrial Land Bank (IILB)
- It is a national GIS land bank with over 4000 industrial parks mapped across 6 lakh hectares of land
- GIS-enabled Land Bank: The system is being developed by the integration of the Industrial Information System with state GIS systems.
- It has information on allotted and available plots, contact details, nodal points of connectivity, etc. with just a few clicks on the website.
- IILB has been integrated with GIS systems of 17 states for plot level information in three phases, of which, third is underway.
Benefits:
- Investors will get access to details of logistics, land, rail & air connectivity, tax incentives, drainage system, power supply and raw material availability from the portal on various industrial belts.
- This would eliminate the need for investors to visit multiple platforms/offices to gather information and obtain clearances from different stakeholders.
