IIT Delhi, Tata Power join hands to provide fillip to clean energy space in India

  • Tata Power and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate in the green space areas such as smart grid technology and clean energy solutions.
  • The MoU aims to provide major fillip to the green ecosystem in India.
  • Both the entities will work together on clean energy and other projects that can be transformed from research and development level to pilot stage in the country.

Targeted areas in the collaboration

  • Both the institutions have agreed to work together to identify projects that can be transformed from the Research & Development (R&D) stage to the inception projects.
  • The areas that are targeted in the MoU are EV infrastructure, artificial intelligence, machine learning, sensing solutions, microgrids, hydrogen technologies, battery energy storage systems, and monitoring.
  • Tata Power and IIT-D have also agreed to explore a possibility to develop the ‘Tata Power Virtual Centre of Excellence’ to boost several technologies, infrastructure, and labs.
  • Both the entities agreed to explore the synergies through cooperation with Clean Energy International Incubation Centre (CEIIC) and IIT-Delhi’s Startup infrastructure for incubation and development of the startup ecosystem in India.
  • Notably, CEIIC is supported by Social Alpha, Tata Trusts, and the Government of India through the Department of Biotechnology, BIRAC, Tata Power, and Tata Power-Delhi Distribution Limited.
